We have been wanting to make Beef Wellingtons for a while. Being rather big fans of Hell’s Kitchen and seeing them served nearly every week (for the past few seasons, they have been making lamb wellingtons, not beef) and laughing at Chef Ramsey’s disdain with his troops while he screams at them “The Wellington! Where’s the, curse word, curse word, Wellington!” Only to find out they are “RAW!!! RAWWW!!!” It totally cracks us up. And makes us want to try and make them ourselves! They really can’t be that difficult, can they?

Yesterday I had the privilege of attending a bread workshop given by the uber talented Tom Gumpel. He is a bit of a rock star, having been recently recognized by Dessert Professional magazine as one of the country’s Top Ten Bread Bakers. Tom is a certified master baker and previously served as associate dean for curriculum and instruction for baking and pastry arts at the CIA.

This past Sunday, my family and I were invited to attend the Loews Regency Hotel fundraising event, “Build a Better Lunch Box” to benefit local community schools featuring hands-on food stations, nutritional tips and advice from the hotel’s esteemed Executive Chef Stephen Crocker.

Right from the start, we were treated to delicious Berry and Blueberry smoothies made with Driscoll’s berries. Having teamed up with Driscoll’s Nutrition Expert, Tina Ruggiero, Chef Crocker devised many recipes that focus on a balance of nutrition and portion control not to mention, are just plain fun to eat.
