The Institute of Kitchen Science just launched a contest! Whirlpool brand is giving away a new double oven range – just in time for the holidays!
Holiday entertaining can be stressful, often leaving many consumers wishing for more hands in the kitchen to help prepare, more hours in the day to finish, and even another oven to help perfect each element of the meal. While Whirlpool brand can’t necessarily help with the first two, the brand is giving away a new Resource Saver™ double oven range to please even the greatest multi-taskers, so you can roast a turkey, bake cookies, or heat a side dish – all at the same time.
From October 21 through November 30, consumers can enter to win via the Contest Tab on the Institute of Kitchen Science Facebook page or by following @kitchensci on Twitter. A winner will be chosen at random from all eligible participants. The complete details can be found here.
The holidays are full of memories – often surrounding food – but the task of creating a delicious and memorable holiday meal from start to finish doesn’t have to be so daunting. To help save even more energy in the kitchen, experts from the Institute of Kitchen Science will be offering helpful tips during the contest. In the meantime, here are a few time and energy saving tips:
· Use pots and pans with flat bottoms that fit the burners. A 6” pot on an 8” burner wastes over 40 percent of that burner’s heat.
· Try cooking food in as little water as possible to save energy and preserve nutrients.
· Don’t open the oven door during cooking; each time you open the door, you can lose about 25°-30° of heat. Try cooking with a full oven too, and using the broiler when possible, which uses less energy and does not require preheating.
· Be sure to use the leftover heat as a food warmer, and turn off the oven immediately when you are finished cooking. An oven retains heat for up to 30 minutes after it has been turned off.
Go Enter and Good Luck!
